CLUSTER ARREDO (furniture cluster) FVG
“Cluster Arredo e Sistema Casa” includes all the necessary activities for the design, production and selling of products belonging to the domestic and contract spheres (product classification defined by the Ministry for Economic Development).
In the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG), the wood-furniture supply chain represents 90% of the whole Home System sector and includes wood cutting, planing and flooring, doors and windows, wood packaging, furniture, mattresses, carpets, bathroom fixtures, tiles, fashion and industrial design.
Most of the companies on the territory belonging to this specific sector are located in two districts: the chair one and the furniture one.

The Region's export from the wood-furniture sector is of about 1.440 million euros (ISTAT, 2015), with an increase of 8.3% in the last two years. Most of the exported products are purchased by the U.K. (22.1%), Germany (17.3%), France (13.2%), USA (6.3%) and Russia (3.4%). The Region Friuli Venezia Giulia is responsible for 13.3% of the Italian export in this sector (10,862 million euros). The Cluster in the Friuli Venezia Giulia represents the second most developed specialization area in the Italian wood and furniture sector in terms of international presence, second only to the area surrounding the city of Treviso, in Veneto region.
In Friuli Venezia Giulia, the wood and furniture sector shows the highest number of employees in national percentage terms, and in absolute terms, it ranks at the third place, preceded only by Veneto and Lombardia regions.
Cluster Arredo weights almost 3 times more than the overall relevance of the economy and manufacturing of Friuli Venezia Giulia over the total of Italy (3.4%).
The wood and furniture supply chain is the most impactful sector in the region in terms of occupation: its share over the entire manufacturing is 7% over Italy, 9.2% over the Triveneto area and 18.8% over Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The Chair District is a productive area located in the North-East of Italy, specialized in the production of seats and furniture. The companies belonging to the Italian Chair District offer a flexible and efficient productive system, have more than 150 years of experience, and are able to catch contemporary trends while valorising their tradition.
The Furniture District in Livenza is located between Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto, the regions divided by the Livenza River, which has positively influenced the economy of this area since ancient times.
The local production includes many different types of furniture, such as kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms and office furniture. In addition, some firms of the District develop components as well, such as doors, drawers and semifinished products which, even if belonging to the furniture supply chain, represent an independent market segment.
Cluster Arredo is in charge of the formation and management of FSC®, PEFC™ and ISO 9001 certifications. Currently, the organization manages over 90 certificates and approximately 70 companies over the territory, which boast an aggregate turnover of 180 million euros and employ over 100 working units.
